임의의 0과 1 사이의 두 분수가 주어졌을 때, 두 분수 사이에 위치한 최소의 분모를 갖는 분수는 어떻게 찾을까? 이 문제는 바보 셈
(두 분수의 분모, 분자끼리 각각 더해서 새로운 분수를 만드는 방법)으로 계산하면 답을 얻을 수 있다. 그러나 이 방법이 모든 경우에 성
립하지는 않는다. 우리는 이러한 ‘최소 분모 문제’에 흥미를 갖고 다양한 수학적 이론들을 적용해 이 문제의 해답을 연구해보았고, 연분
수를 이용한 해법을 발견하였다. -
초록(영문)
If two fractions between (any) zero and one are given, how do we get the fraction with the least denominator between those two
numbers? This problem can be solved by calculating the denominator of two fractions and between the numerators itself, by summing
them up each other. This method, however, cannot be solved under every case. We have been highly interested in this ‘Least Denominator
Problem’ and therefore theories and various tests have been applied to solve this problem and concluded that using the continued fraction
was the best and adequate solution.
